Deborah “Debbie” Ann McKinney, 70, of Kettering, Ohio, beloved wife of Steven McKinney, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2026, after a courageous battle with ALS.
Born on July 8, 1955, in Huntington, West Virginia, Debbie was the daughter of the late Drucilla Mae Blevins Lucas and Clarence “Luke” Lucas, whom she came to know and cherish as her father.
Debbie was a gifted and passionate beautician whose talent extended far beyond the salon chair. She built a respected career within her community, shared her knowledge by teaching and inspiring fellow beauticians, and even took the stage to demonstrate her craft. She possessed a true artist’s spirit and a natural gift for making others feel special and beautiful.
Outside of her work, Debbie found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved taking walks and admiring her flowers in bloom. She loved to shop, got excited about fresh fruits and vegetables, and proudly shared stories of her latest canning creations. Above all, her greatest joy was her family. She will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, radiant smile, and the way she could light up any room and make everyone feel at home.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Sharon Woodrick and Regina "Jeannie" Sizemore, and her daughter, Lori Trullinger.
Debbie is lovingly remembered by her son, John (Amy) Blair; her cherished grandchildren, Kendal, Kendrick (Taylor), and Kenton Trullinger; Caitlin, Madeline, Allison Blair, her great-grandchildren, Weston and Kylah Trullinger; and her devoted siblings: Mary (Sam) Marcum of Kenova West Virginia; Brenda Stepp; Ricky (Connie) Blevins; Charles (Patricia) Fridley; Rebecca (Thomas) Edwards; all of South Point, Ohio; and Jonathan Fridley of Wayne County, West Virginia. She is also survived by her niece, Judy (Troy) Tolliver; her great-niece, Melyssa (Markus) Hunt; along with many cherished nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
The family extends a special thank you to the Edwards family—Becky, Tom, Jenni, and Tommy—for their loving support and care during difficult times.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Debbie’s memory to ALS United Ohio or Ohio's Hospice of Dayton, by visiting the links below.
