Dawn Roberts passed away on October 17, 2024 peacefully in her sleep after a beautiful day of laughter and love with friends and family.
Dawn was born in Cambridge, England on March 6, 1971 to loving parents Kathleen Scruton and Brian McGladdery, and brother Ian McGladdery. Kathleen describes Dawn as a child who enjoyed life and was unphased by anything. Dawn spent her young years reading, being with grandparents Rita Mary and William McGladdery, dancing at clubs with friends, and taking care of horses. Dawn graduated from Comberton Village College in 1987 and shortly after moved to the United States to follow her love for horses at the brave age of 21.
Dawn met her husband, Don Roberts, at Newcomers Bar in Dayton, Ohio and married on a beautiful summer day on July 1st, 2000. They then merged families and started one of their own, with Dawn being the mother of Hannah Moore, Rhys Roberts, and Olivia Roberts. Dawn loved being a mother and did everything and anything for her children. She was even known as “Mama Dawn” by her children’s friends, and deeply cared for anyone who needed her. Her children believe that Dawn was the best mother to ever exist and are grateful to have been raised by such an amazing woman.
One quality of Dawn that is admired by those who love her is her strength. Dawn’s life was not an easy one, but her resiliency to overcome this for the people she loved did not go unnoticed. Despite the hardships, Dawn was always her goofy, sassy self. She was brutely honest and loudly spoke her opinion to anyone who would listen. She loved to laugh, loved to drink, and loved to do those things in great company. She made strong connections with friends and memories that will never be forgotten.
Dawn may have physically left this earth, but her spirit can still be felt in the love that is shared for her. May you still see Dawn in the cups of coffee you drink, the rolling horse fields of Kentucky, and the memories you hold of her. Long live the UK Queen, the strongest woman who ever lived.
