David Lee Howard, Ph.D.

David Lee Howard, 86, Dayton, Ohio and Junction, IL., passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025,
in Ohio. 

There will be no visitation or funeral service. Dr. Howard will be cremated as per his personal
request. Private family burial of ashes will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in
charge of Newcomer Funeral Home, Dayton.

He was born December 6, 1938 in Junction, IL., to the late Herman, Sr. and Josephine (Kinder)
Howard. He married Wilma Joann (Willis) Howard on November 25, 1961. Dave served in the
US Air Force and earned doctorates at Ohio State University in Science and Civil Engineering.
He operated an environmental testing laboratory in Dayton for many years before retiring to his
love of sailing and operating his farms in Ohio, Kentucky and Illinois.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years and siblings; Rebecca Ann Redeman of AZ, Mary Jane
(Henry) Gross of Marion, Il. And Jerry (Helen) Howard of Junction and many nieces and
nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings; Betty Kristie, Ellen Kay Bosaw, Herman
Howard Jr., Jack Howard, Dan Howard, Conrad Howard, and Jim Howard.
