David W. Sutton, born on March 23, 1953, in Harlan, Kentucky, passed into eternity with his Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 13, 2026, in Kettering, Ohio. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, love, and community spirit that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
Dave enjoyed a fulfilling career at Hewitt Soap Company, where he worked for 35 years until the plant's closure. Following this, he continued his commitment to the manufacturing field until his retirement in 2020. Dave graduated from Fairmont East High School in the class of 1971 and furthered his education by obtaining an Associate's Degree in Industrial Engineering from Sinclair Community College.
Described by those who knew him as very caring, Dave was tough on the outside but possessed a soft and loving heart within. His generous nature was evident to all; he would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Dave was deeply passionate about his family, and he made it a priority to attend his son's and grandchildren's sporting events. A true sports enthusiast, he was a dedicated fan of the Cincinnati Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cincinnati Bengals, and the Dayton Flyers. Additionally, he shared a special bond with his adored dog, Nico. Dave was a member of Fairhaven Church for many years as his faith was very important to him.
Dave is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Debbi (Grome) Sutton; son, Brett (Jen) Sutton; grandchildren, Macy, Nolan, Claire, and Luke Sutton; siblings, Dianna Sutton, Sherry (Roger) Deel, Johnnie Dillinger, and Mark Pugh; brother-in-law, Mike (Keitha) Grome; nieces, Shanyn Grome, Missy (Sean) Oberschlake, and Mindy (Bryan) Butler; nephews, Josh Willoughby, Matt Dillinger, and Nick Dillinger; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Millard Sutton and Mae (Morgan) Stargel; step-father, Jerry Stargel; brother, Derrick Sutton; sister, Sheila Sutton; and mother-in-law, Betty Grome.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Fairhaven Church, 637 East Whipp Road, Centerville, OH, 45459. Family and friends may visit from 10:00AM until the time of service. Dave will be laid to rest at David’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Blood Cancer United (formally Leukemia and Lymphoma Society) in memory of Dave.
Dave’s impact on those around him will always be remembered, and his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
