David Samuel Shortt of Moraine passed away on Saturday, February 21st, 2026 at the age of 64. He joins his father: veteran and preacher, Frank Shortt and mother: Margaret Shortt, sister: Debra Wilson, sister-in-law: Jennifer Shortt, and niece: Tonya Hitte.
David is survived by his three loving children: Stephanie (AJ) Rader, Monica Shortt, and Victoria Shortt; cherished grandchildren: Aidan Wright, Adriana Rader, and Madison Rankin; siblings: Peggy Parsons, Frank (Lori) Shortt, Rebecca (William) Robinson, Michael (Kathy) Shortt, their children: Jimmy (Shanon) Gillenwater, Kristeen (James) Fisher, Jennifer Gillenwater, Erick (Tiffani) Shortt, Frankie (Lisa) Shortt, John (Carlita) Kellam, Debbie Kellam (Jason) Kramer, Adam Robinson, Phillip Robinson, Ericka Robinson, Nikki Parsons and many great nieces and great nephews who all brought him so much joy. Yet, that joy is but a fraction of the joy and laughter that David brought to all of them.
David was a friend to all who met him and lived for the simple pleasures in life. He had a free spirit and loved a good adventure. He also loved to tinker. He was a drywall expert by trade but an artist in every day life. He was well-known for his hilarious impressions, voices, random song outbursts, and always good for a joke. David had a keen ability to face hardships with humor. But his girls, his girls were his pride and joy. He loved to talk about them and how proud he was. He was always a jokester, always a laugh but with them he was so soft and sweet. Life with him was so precious he was the light in our life and it will surely be a bit more dim now without him here! We will ask everyone to try with us to always spread his light and laughter.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Star City Social, 16 Water Street, in Miamisburg.
