David L. Poliquin, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, in his hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on October 18, 1943, David was a man of many talents and interests, leaving a rich legacy behind for his family and the community he served.

Raised in a loving family, David was the son of Daniel and Mary Poliquin. He was blessed with a caring sister, Dorothy (Nicholas) Csonka, who predeceased him. From an early age, David exhibited a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. He proudly graduated from Chaminade High School in 1961 and further pursued his education at Sinclair Community College, earning an Associate's Degree in Accounting in 1968. Driven by his ambition, he continued his studies at Antioch University, where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990, followed by an MBA from Xavier University in 1992.

David's professional journey began at Hewitt Soap Company, where he met his beloved wife, Ann Poliquin. Together, they shared a remarkable 55 years of marriage, building a life filled with love and mutual respect. In 1975, David took a significant step in his career as he joined the Ohio Credit Union League as a Field Service Consultant. He went on to become Executive Vice President at 801 Credit Union in 1978 and ascended to the position of President and CEO in 1993. His commitment to furthering education and sharing his knowledge extended to the classroom, where he served as an adjunct professor at Sinclair, Antioch, Clark State, and Capital for nearly 25 years. Even after retirement, David remained actively engaged in his community as an independent housing appraiser.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, David was known for his captivating storytelling. “Mr. P's stories will live on forever,” his loved ones often remarked, as they cherished the many memories created around the warmth of his narratives. He was an exceptional cook, particularly renowned for his perfect French toast. David delighted in the great outdoors, relishing fishing trips with his son and hosting fish fries at their home. He and Ann embarked on a cross-country trip to Napa Valley, where they explored countless national parks, creating lasting memories along the way.

David's personality was defined by his intellectual curiosity and candor. He had a remarkable ability to engage in meaningful discussions about current events and diverse viewpoints, showcasing his incredibly sharp mind right up until his final days. A diehard fan of Xavier University, he embraced Ohio State football and learned to tolerate Ohio State and the University of Dayton basketball because of his grandchildren's college choices, demonstrating his unwavering support for family.

He took great pride in serving his community, volunteering with numerous organizations throughout his life. David was a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 40 years, achieving the distinction of a 4th Degree Knight. He contributed his talents as a member of the Board of Directors of Preservation Dayton, Inc., participated in the Homeless Solutions Community 10 Year Plan, served on the Samaritan Health Clinic Advisory Committee, held the position of State Director of Ohio Credit Union League, and presided over the Miami Valley Chapter of the Ohio Credit Union League. Additionally, he was proud to be part of the Financial Management Advisory Committee of Sinclair Community College and the Education Committee of St. Luke's Parish. Above all, his greatest pride came from being an active participant in the lives of his children, Bethany (Nate) Scolastico and Christian (Teresa) Poliquin, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Jachimski and Erin Jachimski.

David Poliquin leaves behind a loving legacy and will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, niece Carole (Brian) LeVasseur, and numerous extended relatives and friends. His profound impact on those around him, both personally and professionally, will resonate for years to come, as he remains a steadfast figure in their hearts and memories.
