Listen to Obituary

David Lee Louderback, also known by his CB handle "Black Beard," passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on July 25, 1939, David lived a life characterized by unwavering faith, deep family devotion, and a strong work ethic.

He worked proudly as a truck driver for 47 years. Additionally, he served as a superintendent at the Xenia Super Valu warehouse, was a steward for the Teamsters Union, and worked as a loan officer at the credit union. This career not only supported his family but also helped him connect with others, often starting conversations with his signature gesture of offering a mint.

After the devastating Xenia tornado, David moved to the West Liberty area, where he started a new life and made lasting friendships that became a treasured part of his journey.

David's faith was the foundation of his life. He lived as a quiet yet powerful example of God's love, reading the Word daily, faithfully attending church, and serving in prison ministry during his early years. He sincerely believed in God's grace and demonstrated that belief through his actions and words.

He enjoyed many fulfilling years of retirement in Florida, where he played a key role in helping establish a church in Leesburg. His dedication and faith left a legacy, and the church he helped build continues to thrive today.

He was married to the love of his life, Jeanie Louderback, for 67 wonderful years. Together, they built a strong and loving family that was always their most incredible pride and joy. David is survived by his wife, Jeanie; his children, David (Jacqueline) Louderback of Florida, Debbie (Tom) Headley of De Graff, Lori (Billy) Wintersteller of West Liberty, and Kelli (Jeff) Stoner of West Liberty. He was a proud grandfather to 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. David is also survived by his siblings, including his sister-in-law, Dorothy Louderback of Xenia, Dale (Becky) Louderback of Xenia, Jo Ann Pointer of Florida, Mike (Brenda) Louderback of Xenia, and his sister-in-law Raylene Ellsberry of Xenia. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nina and Frank Louderback; his beloved son, Mark Allen Louderback; his grandson, Michael Jared Louderback; his brother, Jim Louderback; his brothers-in-law, Mike Pointer and Larry Ellsberry; and his nephews, Mark Pointer and Doug Ellsberry.

David was the foundation of his family-a man of faith, kindness, humor, and unwavering support. He loved gardening, family vacations, and being surrounded by those he loved.

David also shared a special bond with his loyal dog, Bandit, who was always by his side, bringing him endless joy and companionship.

His legacy of love, laughter, and faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family sincerely thanks Dr. Kratz, known as "Doc Hollywood," for his compassionate care; the dedicated nurses and staff from many different institutions; the Bellefontaine Police Department for the comfort they provided when called; Universal Hospice; and a special thanks to Kim Bevans, whose visits brought joy and warmth to him.

Visitation will be held on October 11, 2025 from 11:00am-12:00pm at Foundation Hall at Otterbein Green Hills (6557 US-68, West Liberty, OH 43357). There will be a Celebration of Life held at 12:00pm with a meal to follow.
