David E. Hiehle, Sr., a cherished family man and beloved member of the Miamisburg community, passed away on September 19, 2025, at the age of 88 in Dayton, Ohio. Born on January 5, 1937, in Dayton, David dedicated his life to both his family and his career.
David spent an impressive 43 years working with the City of Miamisburg, where he retired in 2002. His commitment to service extended beyond his professional life; in 1962, he proudly served as a volunteer fireman for his city, demonstrating his deep-rooted dedication to the safety and well-being of his community.
David had a profound passion for trains and anything railroad-related. He also took delight in the simple pleasures, such as feeding the hummingbirds that visited his home. These hobbies brought him much joy and were a testament to his appreciation for the beauty in life’s little moments.
David is survived by his loving wife, Carole; son, David Jr. (Ramona); grandchildren, Krystal (Mike); great-grandchildren, Maddie, Maddox, and Micah; brother, Herman T. Hiehle III; sisters, Mary Margaret Guffy and Elizabeth Budich; and numerous extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman T. Hiehle, Jr. and Agnes (Suttman) Hiehle; brother, Chuck Hiehle, Sr.; and sister, Carolyn Clark.
Services entrusted to Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made out to Hospice of Dayton in memory of David.
David's legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know him.
