David E. Heggs

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David E. Heggs, affectionately known as Dave, who left us on December 12, 2024, in Huber Heights, Ohio. Born on March 24, 1937, in Dayton, Ohio, Dave led a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family and community.

A proud graduate of Vandalia Butler High School, Class of 1955, Dave embraced the values learned in those formative years as he stepped into the world. Dave and his brother, Jon co-inherited Plastico Products, ran and operated it together and were inseparable.  This venture was not merely a job for them; it was a continuation of their family's legacy. Through hard work and commitment, they helped shape the business into a respected entity within the community.

Outside of his professional life, Dave had varied interests that revealed his vibrant spirit. He was a passionate supporter of The Ohio State Buckeyes Football team, loved spending time at the casino, where he played cards, especially poker, and enjoyed classic cars and aviation. 

Family was the cornerstone of Dave's life. He was a devoted father to his children, Chelcie Heggs (Andy) McNelly and Brian (Mallory) Heggs, whose happiness was his greatest joy. He was a loving grandfather to Max McNelly, Bailey and Brandon Heggs, William and Ryan Heggs. He took immense pride in being a "dog grandpa" to Frankie, proving that love knows no bounds.

In recent years, Dave found solace and companionship living with his daughter and son-in-law. His bond with Andy's father, James, blossomed into a cherished friendship, enhancing the warmth of their family life. He leaves behind his sister, Deborah Yackley, and brother, Rick (Ann Claire) Heggs, along with numerous nieces—Elizabeth, Alyssa, Jacqueline, Karen, Monica and Katie—and nephews—Eric, Jason, Andy and Jesse. These individuals, among many other relatives and friends, will carry his spirit forward in their hearts.

Dave's departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who loved him dearly. He is predeceased by his parents, Clifford and Beverly Heggs, beloved son, Kevin Heggs; siblings, Cindy, Shari, Dolores, and Jon; and nephew, Steven, creating a sense of reunion as he embarks on this new journey.

In remembering David E. Heggs, we honor a man whose life was a testament to love, loyalty, and an enduring spirit. He touched the lives of all who knew him, leaving behind memories that will forever remind us of his laughter, kindness, and unwavering devotion to his family. May he rest in peace, knowing that he will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date by his family.
