David Lee “Shorty” Delehanty, age 77, of Germantown, OH, gently went to be with the Lord on March 20, 2026. He was born on September 27, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, the son of Edward and Dorothy (Reigelsperger) Delehanty.
He was welcomed in Heaven by his parents; his brother, Charles; and two sisters, Louie Geer and Sandi Delehanty; his in-laws, Laurel and Marie Bidwell; a sister-in-law, Patsy Delehanty and three brothers-in-law, Ron Dunkel, Chuck Bohn and Virgil Bidwell, and many special aunts and uncles and family members.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Margaret, who he married on March 8th, 1969. His children: Dave (Sue) Delehanty of Germantown, Lee Delehanty of Farmersville, Daniel Delehanty of Germantown, and Laura (Pete) Rosile of Miamisburg. His brothers and sisters: Richard Delehanty of Vandalia, Edna Dunkel of Dayton, John (Michele) Delehanty of Virginia, Carol (Ron) Martineau of Virginia, Tim (Dana) Delehanty of Brookville, Ted (Luana) Delehanty of Potsdam, and Penny (David) Clay of Texas; his grandchildren Colten, Jacob, Ethan, Alyssa, Jaden, Olivia, and Georgia; his special buddy and grand-dog, Lucas; and numerous extended family and lifetime friends.
Shorty was employed at GM (Frigidaire/DMAX) for 52 and half years and retired in 2021. To his family and close friends, Dave was also known as Pappy. Pappy enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool, watching the Bengals and old westerns, bonfires, gardening, and spending time with those he loved the most. Family was always the most important to Pappy. Pappy wore his heart on his sleeve and would help anyone in need.
A celebration of life (and final whistle call) will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at the home of his son, Dave Delehanty, 8979 Manning Rd, Germantown, Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Dave’s name.
