David Bockrath

December 7, 1944 — January 23, 2019

David Paul "Cork" "Boomer" Bockrath, age 74 of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He was born December 7, 1944 in Dayton, Ohio to the late Frank and Evelyn Bockrath.

Cork served as a paramedic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he received the Bronze Star. Throughout the years, Cork worked for Ohio Bell and on the oil rigs as a commercial deep sea diver in New Orleans for Taylor Diving. He returned to Ohio and became a paramedic and Fireman for the City of Dayton, retiring in 2012.

Cork enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing golf, and was a member of the Dayton Ski Club and the Shamrock Club.

Cork will be missed by his two brothers, Dennis (Shea) Bockrath and Randy (Debbie) Bockrath; aunt, Joan Bockrath; nephew, Logan; niece, Alicia; and many cousins.

Family will receive friends Monday, January 28, 2019 from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd., Dayton, where the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 29, 2019. Burial to follow the service at the Dayton National Cemetery.
