David Alan Norman

With heavy hearts and loving memories, we announce the passing of David Alan Norman, who left this world on August 6, 2026, in his beloved hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Born on March 1, 1959, in Dayton, David touched countless lives with his boundless warmth and tireless devotion to those he loved.

David’s story is one of selflessness, resilience, and steadfast family bonds. The steadfast love he offered his wife, Cindy Norman, was the bedrock upon which their family flourished. He was a proud and devoted father to Brandie (Jay) Myers, Chelsie (Tim) House, Danessa Norman, David Norman, Jr., and India Norman. His sisters, Karen Howard, Vicki Norman, and Brenda (Greg) Wardlow, knew him as a brother whose laughter, guidance, and caring always lifted their spirits. He also leaves behind 10 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and numerous extended family members and friends. Each relationship David forged was tender, rooted in his unwavering dedication to put others before himself—a trait that defined him.

The loss of his mother, Ella Mae Wagoner, and father, Hubert Norman, shaped him, but their memory lived graciously in him, guiding his kind-hearted ways and deep sense of responsibility. For David, faith was an anchor. The roots of his religious upbringing ran deep and true; they kept him grounded, especially during turbulent times and gave him a gentle wisdom he quietly imparted to his children and those around him.

David’s talents were many—he was truly a man of many trades, always ready to help family and friends with any problem big or small. Affectionately known as “Super Dave,” he became the go-to person for repairs and quick solutions, inspiring not only gratitude but also admiration from all who witnessed his generosity and skill. There was rarely a project he would turn down, never hesitating to step into the breach when needed. Whether it was a leaky faucet, a stubborn engine, or matters of the heart, David could be counted on to make things right, often quietly saving the day and never asking for anything in return.

He carried that spirit of diligence into his education, proudly graduating from God’s Bible College, a milestone that reflected his commitment to learning and his devotion to faith. Gospel music was woven through the soundtrack of his life, filling his days with inspiration and joy. Few places brought David more solace than his garage. Always tinkering, collecting, and organizing, his garage became his haven—a space where cups of strong coffee fueled delightful hours spent perfecting his craft and finding joy in the simple act of creation.

David’s affinity for routine—that first cup of morning coffee—was legendary among those closest to him. Each day began in quiet reflection, preparing him to offer support and care to everyone he encountered. He found immense pleasure in supporting the Cincinnati Bengals, rallying his family together through the triumphs and tribulations of his favorite team.

Family was, above all, David’s favorite thing. Nothing brought him greater happiness than a household bustling with love, laughter, and the reliable joys of togetherness--especially the sounds of his grandchildren. His legacy is not measured solely by the things he built, repaired, or safeguarded but in the hearts still nourished by his endless compassion.

As we remember David, we celebrate the constancy of his kindness, the reliability of his presence, and the unshakeable love that radiated from him in many ways. His absence is deeply felt by all whose lives he so gently and profoundly shaped.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at 12:00PM also at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton Chapel. Family and friends may visit from 11:00AM until the time of service. David will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Calvary Cemetery.
