Darrel Stewart, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather,and friend, passed away on June 19, 2025, in Kettering, Ohio, at the age of 90. Born on February 14, 1935, in Harlan, Kentucky, Darrel dedicated over 35 years to his career as a truck driver with ABF, where he was recognized for his exceptional driving skill with a safety award for driving over a million miles without accidents.

A man of many passions, Darrel will be remembered fondly for his love of life. He had an unquenchable enthusiasm for socializing, never meeting a stranger, and always greeted new acquaintances with a warm smile and a flirtatious charm. His joyful spirit shone brightly in moments spent dancing to his favorite tunes or enjoying old western movies, a cherished pastime that brought him much comfort and entertainment.

Darrel had a particular fondness for meals from Bob Evans, where he indulged in his favorite dish, country fried steak, nearly every day—often relishing it twice a day. His simple pleasures in life reflected his warm, down-to-earth nature and his ability to find joy in the little things. He was born in the mountains and that is where felt home would always be. Darrel always looked forward to attending and never missed the Turner family reunions in Pine Mountain Settlement School.

He is survived by his loving sons, Jim Stewart (Margie) and Dave Stewart (Dena), as well as his cherished grandchildren, Brendon Stewart, Xander Stewart, Jez Alogla (April), Rachel Rhoades, and Issac Alogla. He also leaves behind two great-grandchildren who will carry on his legacy of warmth and kindness.

Darrel is preceded in death by his devoted wife of over 60 years, Eula Stewart, his parents Jesse and Cora Stewart, and his daughter Katrina Rhoades. His absence leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who knew him, yet his spirit will forever remain in the memories they shared.
