Darrel Wayne Hill, of Beavercreek Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2026 at the age of 79.

Darrel is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Nanette G. Hill; three children, Raegan Bulugaris, Ryan Hill, and Carson (Marla) Hill; seven grandchildren, who were truly the light of his life, Mason, Kylie, Ethan, Isaac, Logan, Lennox Wayne, and Luxton; as well as his younger brother, Chris (Cathy) Hill.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mary Margaret Hill and George E. Hill, and his older brother George (Leah Ann) Hill.

Darrel was a 1965 graduate of Stebbins High School. After high school, Darrel became a Union Local 24 Sheet Metal worker. Darrel was drafted at the age of 25 during the Vietnam War serving in Karlsruhe Germany. Being a veteran was something Darrel took great pride in, it was a legacy he passed down to his son, Ryan, who served in the United States Army for 25 years. That legacy continues today, as two of his grandsons are also enlisted in the military. Darrel was a dedicated member of American Legion Post 763 for 34 years.

Traveling was a big part of Darrel’s life, traveling through Europe, Canada, Mexico, USA and the Iron Curtain Side of Berlin. He also volunteered, donating blood, in the Beavercreek City Schools, and also as assistant AD for the Beavercreek Stars Program when his children were younger.

In 1986, Darrel and Nanette built their dream home, where they spent the next four decades raising their family, making memories, and living their best life together. Their home became the heart of their family and a place where countless memories were made.

Darrel was a hardworking man, working in Sheet Metal for 36 years, he retired at age 56 and took on a new role inspecting roofs for a local company.

Darrel was a lifelong Nascar and Indy Car fan, attending countless races throughout more than 65 years of his life. In retirement, he discovered a love of golf and enjoyed learning and playing the game with his sons by his side.

An avid athlete throughout his life, Darrel participated in marathons and also body building competitions during his younger years. He continued to stay active throughout his life riding his bike, running, and walking along the bike path.

Above all, Darrel was a devoted father and grandfather. He never missed a soccer game, diving competition, or basketball game. He was always there, cheering on his family and taking pride in their accomplishments.

His other great loves included The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns. Saturday and Sundays during football season meant watching his teams, whether from the stands or from home. Some of the family’s most cherished memories were the many years spent attending Buckeye games together. Darrel loved to laugh and joke, had an incredible memory especially when it came to history. He cherished his lifelong friends and family and never took those relationships for granted. He was grounded, steady in presence and a genuine joy to be around. Darrel was the patriarch of his family, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, veteran and friend. His presence shaped the lives of everyone who loved him, and his memory will live on through the family he loved so deeply.

He will be immeasurably missed and forever loved. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
