Darlene Sammons

Darlene Sammons, age 72, of Dayton, passed away August 28, 2026. She was born November 10, 1953 in Dayton to the late Carl and Genevieve Plummer. In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her sister, Carol Ann Plummer; and brother, Raymond Plummer.

Darlene is survived by her husband, Danny Sammons; children: Joe Lewis (Michelle), Carla George (Tim), Heather Emery, Tiffany Emery (Dustin), Daisy Walden and Daniel Sammons (Lizzy); grandchildren: Shelby Lewis, Brandon George, Tyler Lewis, Cara Rillo-Grant (Sean), Brandon Emery, Ayden Emery, Dustin Tucker Jr., Timmy Tucker, Richard Serrer, Walter Bailey and Maddie Sammons; great-grandchildren: Ella, Jonah, Levi, Payslee, Rilyne, Charlee; brother, Carl "Tootie" Plummer Jr. (Barb); nieces: Missy Fisher and Beth Plummer; nephew, Raymond "Little Ray" Plummer Jr.; many other family members and friends, including her best friend of 52 years, Shelly Tiley.

Darlene never missed her grandkids' sporting events. She enjoyed going to the casino, bowling, shopping and decorating for the holidays. She loved her dogs: Sissy, Oreo and Rosie.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road. A graveside service will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, September 11 at Dayton National Cemetery. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home at 8:00 am, leaving at 8:20 am. Contributions may be made in Darlene's memory to the American Heart Association or to the funeral home to help with final expenses.
