Darlene June Griffin, a vibrant soul whose laughter and spirit filled every room she entered, passed away on May 29, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1953, in Canton, Ohio, Darlene lived a life defined by joy, warmth, and an enduring zest for life.

Known fondly for her carefree and outgoing nature, Darlene was truly the life of the party. Her infectious enthusiasm and radiant smile made her a cherished presence among all who knew her. She worked diligently in the construction industry in Florida, a testament to her determination and resilience.

Darlene’s passions were many and spoke to the depth of her joyful spirit. She had a love for collecting angels, spending time camping, and was an avid fan of the classic television show M*A*S*H. She also treasured moments fishing by peaceful waters, embracing the simplicity and beauty of nature. Beyond her hobbies, she adored her beloved cat, Ladybug, and delighted in the simple pleasure of blue M&Ms. Those who knew her will remember the “van jams” she loved so much — times filled with music, laughter, and joyous camaraderie.

Darlene’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She is survived by her beloved children: Betty Griffin, Jeannie Starr, David (Katrina) Griffin, Joshua Mathias, and James Mathias. She took immense pride in her grandson, Shawn Malone, and her great-grandchildren: Chloe, Serenity, Adalyn, and Ethan, who brought boundless happiness to her days. Her siblings Mary, Christy, Timothy, and Tweedy remained close to her heart, alongside her niece Jenny (Randy) McIntosh, nephew Tom, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Lynn and Lloyd McIntosh; and many other loving relatives and dear friends who stood by her side through life's journeys.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Elizabeth Fiecoat, her fiancé, Phillip McIntosh, and numerous siblings. Their memories live on in the stories and love shared throughout the years.
