Daniel "Tank" Tankersley, age 63 of Dayton, passed away on Sunday, March 20, 2016. He was born in Dayton to the late Hugh and Suzanne Tankersley. Tank grew up in Oakwood and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1970. He owned and operated Tank's Bar and Grill on Wayne Avenue since 1987. He was a passionate UD Flyer's fan and enjoyed taking the "Tank bus" to Dayton Dragon games. He and his wife, Debra, enjoyed vacationing on the ocean, from Florida to the Bahamas. He loved to scuba dive in his free time and lounge by the water. He was also known to go every year to Rally Week at Sturgis, SD. He was a fun, passionate, and compassionate man and will be missed by everyone who's life he touched.
In addition to his parents, Tank was preceded in death by his grandma Warner and brother, Ronald Tankersley.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Debra Tankersley; children, Thomas Starbuck, Jr., Ryan and Jessica Bower, Josh and Stephanie Gierek; 6 grandchildren, Laney, CC, Lexy, Kage, Draven, and Kya; brothers, Jerry Tankersley and Tim Tankersley; sister, Carolyn and husband Tangi; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 from 4pm - 8pm at Oakwood High School (his alma mater). Funeral Service to held at the high school on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tank's memory to a charity to be determined.
