Dana C. Ward, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on November 22, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, at the age of 81. Born on May 31, 1944, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, Dana led a life rich with love, service, and dedication to his family.

Dana retired from AT&T (Ohio Bell) after a commendable 31-year career. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving as a communication specialist from 1963 to 1966, an experience that underscored his commitment to serving his country. He formed many friendships being a member at American Legion Post #598 in Kettering, Ohio.

A graduate of Wilbur Wright High School, Dana was a distinguished member of the Class of 1962, where he earned four varsity letters in football. His passion for sports and dedication to teamwork were early indicators of the camaraderie that would characterize his relationships throughout his life.

Dana was known not only for his professional accomplishments but also for his vibrant spirit and kindness. He never met a stranger and was loved by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. The fond memories shared with family, particularly at Lake Cumberland, brought him immense joy. Here, he earned the affectionate nickname "The Mayor of Conley Bottom Resort," complete with a sign and a key—a testament to the deep connections he had with everyone at the lake.

In his earlier years, Dana enjoyed dancing with his beloved wife, Kathy, as well as indulging in hobbies such as camping, boating, riding motorcycles, building model ships, and deer hunting. These activities highlighted his zest for life and adventure, showcasing a man who embraced joy in every moment.

Family was at the heart of Dana's existence, and he took great pride in their accomplishments and happiness. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Kathy, and they just celebrated a remarkable 40-year wedding anniversary, a milestone that exemplified the enduring love they shared. He is also survived by his children, Dana (Karen) Ward Jr., Alicia (Joseph) Scaglione, Jacinda (Bill) Wheeler, Tammy (Dean) Scott, and Terry (Brittany) Webb, each of whom reflect the values he cherished.

Dana is also remembered as a devoted grandfather to his grandchildren: Cliff Ward, Jack (Kristina) Ward, Jacob (Juliana) O'Boyle, Hannah Scaglione, Joey (Krysten) Vagedes, Hailey Wheeler, Kylee Webb, Olivia Webb, Mackenna Webb, and Carter Webb, and a proud great-grandfather to Bryson Vagedes, Ally Vagedes, and Mabel Wheeler. Each family member held a special place in his heart, and he took great pride in their journeys and successes.

Dana was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and E. Gladine Ward. His legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire those who knew him.

As we remember Dana C. Ward, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a man who embodied the spirit of family and friendship, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
