Dale C. Gullickson - Col. USAF (Ret), age 73 of Waynesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
Dale was born in Webster, South Dakota, and raised in Roslyn, South Dakota. The son of Lovella and Sidney Gullickson, he graduated from Roslyn High School in 1969, the South Dakota State University College of Pharmacy in 1974, and the University of Nebraska College of Dentistry in 1979. He married Donna Lynn Winchell on June 2, 1979. He accepted a commission in the United States Air Force in June of 1979 where he completed a General Practice Residency in Dentistry and an Endodontic Residency during 24 years of active duty service in the U.S. Air Force.
While in the Air Force, his assignments included bases within the United State, England, and the Middle East. He was deployed to the Middle East during the Persian Gulf War for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm. Among his decorations are: three Meritorious Service Medals, three Air Force Commendation Medals, seven Outstanding Unit Awards, two National Defense Service Medals, the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon (Pistol), the Southwest Asia Service Medal, the Kuwait Liberation Medal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Kuwait Liberation Medal Government of Kuwait, and others.
Dale was active in sports and physical fitness throughout his lifetime. He especially enjoyed coaching his two sons in multiple sports during their development. He also enjoyed numerous projects involving upgrading and remodeling many of his residences while moving from assignment to assignment. His latest interest was golfing and enjoying the outdoors and beauty of nature.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Lovella Gullickson; first wife, Donna; and sister, Sheryl.
He is survived by his second wife, Donna Lorene; sons, Adam Gullickson (Courtney) and Kevin Gullickson (Zoe); grandchildren, Ethan, Noah, Emily, Noelle, Elsie, Eloise, Peyton, and Myles; brother, Orrin Gullickson (Carol); stepchildren, Jeremy Dimbath (Leslie), Aaron Dimbath (Jamie), Janelle Gaver (Keith), and Alex Dimbath (Katie); six step-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Steven Winchell and Glenn Winchell (Kris); and sister-in-law, Kathie Haskins (Joel).
A private graveside service will be held at Dayton National Cemetery.
