Cynthia May Pyles, affectionately known as Cindy, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 22, 1936, Cynthia dedicated her life to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and the love of her family, leaving behind a profound legacy that will endure in the hearts of many.
Cynthia graduated from Fairmont High School, after which she pursued a fulfilling career as an artist. She shared her talents with others through teaching painting and ceramics, inspiring countless students along the way. Her artistic prowess was celebrated, as evidenced by the numerous awards she received for her exquisite porcelain doll making, a testament to her dedication and creativity.
Deeply devoted to her faith, Cynthia was an active member of her church community. She served as a deaconess and took the helm of the Women of The Word ("WOW") at Patterson Park Church, exemplifying her commitment to nurturing spiritual growth in others. Known for her amazing, loving, and kind demeanor, Cynthia was also recognized for her generosity and outgoing personality. She was a steadfast warrior for Jesus, embodying the faith that guided her throughout her life.
Aside from her artistic endeavors and church activities, Cindy had a passion for gardening, finding peace and joy in nurturing her plants and flowers. Her ability to cultivate beauty extended beyond her garden into the lives of everyone she touched.
Cynthia was married to her loving husband, Harold, for an incredible 71 ½ years, building a life filled with love and companionship. Together, they raised three children: Jody, Chris, and Tim. Cindy was blessed with a devoted daughter-in-law, Annie, who served as both caregiver and confidante. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Daniel, Jeremy, Chris, Joshua, Jessica, Shorey, Melody, Rebecca, Ashley, Drew, and Samantha, each of whom carries a piece of her spirit within them.
Cynthia is survived by her sisters, Judith and Melody, and a vast network of family and friends who cherished her generous heart and unwavering faith. She is predeceased by her parents, Eldon and Marie Gray, her sister, Renee, her brother-in-laws, Jack and Tom as well as her nephew, Jon.
Her remarkable life of artistry, faith, and love serves as an inspiration to all who knew her. Cynthia will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered for the joy she brought to the lives she encountered.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. Service will begin at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
