Craig Michael Childs, 52 of Moraine, Ohio passed away peacefully in his sleep at home with his wife and daughter next to him, after battling a rare and aggressive leukemia for nine months.
Craig was born in Springfield Ohio to Patricia Smith and Philip Childs and was a graduate of Covington High School, where he enjoyed playing football.
He is survived by his beloved wife Heather Childs and daughter Abigail Childs, step daughter Corinne Burchett, grandson Jaxson Denno, siblings Colleen Bevins (Dick), Carmen Miller (Bob), Caryn Rabbitt, Chris Childs (Lisa), also many nieces, nephews and great nieces.
He married Heather in Las Vegas Nevada in 2019, not only leaping into a new chapter of his life, but physically leaping off the top of the Stratosphere.
Although his favorite time was spent with family and friends, of which he would poke fun at constantly, his heart was on the road, whether it be heavy haul transportation or riding winding roads on his motorcycle. When at home, he enjoyed various Guy Fieri shows, making jokes about the things and people around him or eating cheeseburgers.
He loved Ace Ventura, Metallica, genre bending mashups of rock, country or hip hop and reciting the entire lyrics to a Beastie Boys song. Craig was a man of laughter and joy, often bringing smiles to anyone he came into contact with. During motorcycle runs, he would get off his bike and do the running man or the sprinkler.
He enjoyed taking his daughter to his favorite burger joints (lettuce and tomato never included) or sharing a plate of fettuccine alfredo - to which he instinctively knew the best spots wherever he was.
Craig was a Veteran of the US Navy where he was stationed at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego as a Helicopter Mechanic. The insignia on his patch was a hand coming down from the skies to rescue an individual, and he lived his life like that, always showing up for his friends and family in need. After his service, he was never shy in thanking other veterans or buying them a meal at a ballpark.
Although he lost his battle to cancer, he fought bravely, never once giving up and will be remembered for his strength through it all.
