Craig Bruggeman

Craig Bruggeman, affectionately known to many as "Squidward," was born on October 20, 1962, in the vibrant city of Dayton, Ohio. He was a devoted father, cherished friend, and a veteran of the United States Air Force, from which he proudly received an honorable discharge. Craig's journey through life came to a poignant close on November 25, 2025, at Miami Valley South Hospital, following a valiant fight against cancer.

Throughout his life, Craig dedicated himself to the well-being of others, exemplifying a selflessness that resonated deeply with everyone who crossed his path. He served as the head of maintenance at Dayton Forge & Heat Treat, where he not only honed his skills but formed many lifelong friendships that enriched his life. The bonds he cultivated are a testament to the kind of man he was—a man who prioritized connection and camaraderie above all else.

Craig was a true embodiment of love and support, always willing to take the shirt off his back for those in need. His nickname, while seemingly humorously inspired, belied the depths of his character; he was the epitome of an elite father and a devoted friend. He found immense joy in simple pleasures—a sunny day spent in his yard, a refreshing Miller Lite in hand, or losing himself in an Ohio State Buckeyes game, reveling in the community that these moments brought.

His passions extended beyond just sports; Craig was an avid reader and music lover, inspiring those around him with his enthusiasm. His love for video games was not merely a pastime but a bridge that strengthened the bond with his children, Ross, Dalton (Patience), and Shelby. He took pride in sharing this joy, fostering connections through shared experiences that enriched their lives together. The laughter and joy they created as a family will be cherished forever, a testament to the loving home he built.

Craig's zest for life was infectious, and his proudest accomplishment was undoubtedly the family he nurtured. His legacy is one of unconditional love, resilience, and friendship; he crafted a life filled with precious memories that will endure through his beloved children and grandson, Emerson. Additionally, Craig's loving family at Dayton Forge & Heat Treat will forever carry his spirit with them, each fond memory a reminder of his impact on their lives.

As we gather to celebrate Craig’s life, we are reminded of the warmth he brought into the world and the love he so freely gave. His visitation will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, OH 45439). Here, friends and family will come together, united in memory of a remarkable man whose presence will be profoundly missed yet eternally remembered.
