Connie Marie Stakelin, age 68 of Dayton, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side, Friday, July 19, 2019 at Sycamore Hospital. She was born March 5, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio.
She was very passionate about caring for children. Connie retired after 30 years of dedicated service from the Child Care Industry. She spent the majority of her time investing in caring for children at the YMCA of Dayton, where she received the Top National Child Care Provider Award. Connie's hobbies were playing Bingo, cooking, family vacations, thrifting and celebrating other people.
Connie embodied what it meant to be loving, forgiving, generous and graceful. She was the stronger half of all her relationships without effort or even knowing so. She was the caretaker and backbone of her entire family.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Howard Emil Stakelin, Jr.; mother and father, Lovetta and James Rall; sister, Rita Brown.
Connie is survived by her two daughters, Angel (Paul) Valerio and Marissia Hayles; five grandchildren, Anthony (Taneisha) Valerio, Aaron (Libby) Valerio, Jason Mann, Miranda Valerio and Andrew Valerio; three great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Judah and Piper Valerio; siblings, Janet Yokum, James (Amy) Rall , Donna Brown and Carolyn (Daniel) Spoonmore; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friend, Barb Truman; along with numerous extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 5:00-6:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering Chapel (3940 Kettering Blvd., Kettering, Ohio 45439), where a funeral service will follow at 6:30 pm.
