Clara Marie Whitacre

Clara Marie Whitacre, age 77 of Xenia, passed away Sunday, December 24, 2023 surrounded by those who loved her. She was born May 14, 1946 in Jamestown, Ohio the daughter of the late Simpson Thomas and Clara Marie Reed.

Clara graduated from Greeneview High School in Jamestown. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling, turkey shoots, rail buggy races, pay laking and playing cards. She and her husband volunteered at Pioneer Village where they sold crafts. She was a Social Worker for the Native American Indian Cultural Center and taught and instilled our native culture in her children. She was also a talented painter and loved to play bingo. Clara will be remembered for being generous and a hard worker. Above all, she loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Glenn "Skeet" Whitacre; son, Skeet Kent Whitacre; and siblings, Simpson Thomas "JR" Reed Jr., Larry Eugene Reed, Anthony "Tony" Reed and Charlotte Baxla.

Clara is survived by her daughter, Katherine Marie "Kitty" (Michael) Whitacre-McKeever; grandchildren, Jaimee Marie (Brandon) Wipperman, Megan (Christopher) Stratton, Nina Grafstrom, Kevin Hayslip, Justin Whitacre, Dakota Whitacre, Selena Pierce, Sarah Pierce and Tyler Whitacre; great grandchildren, Zoey Marie, Rowan, Hayven, Davina, Christopher "Topher", Jade, Joeleen, Presley Clara and Gatlin; and several other relatives and special friends.

Visitation will be Friday, January 5, 2024 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm with a service at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (3380 Dayton-Xenia Road, Beavercreek, Ohio 45432). Clara will be laid to rest at Valley View Memorial Gardens following the service next to her husband.
