Listen to Obituary

Christopher Ryan Slaght, age 40 of Eaton, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on February 6, 2026, leaving behind a space that can never truly be filled.

Chris came into this world in a snowstorm to the tune of Sammy Hagar's "I can't drive 55", on March 28, 1985. He met the love of his life, Anna, in the 6th grade, where history was made.

Chris was a devoted father, husband and family man. His family and children were the center of his world, his greatest pride and deepest joy. Everything he did was rooted in his love for them, and they were never in doubt of how fiercely and unconditionally he loved them. His family was his heart, his purpose, and his greatest accomplishment.

To know Chris was to feel welcomed. He had a rare gift, everyone he met became a friend almost instantly. Though he carried strength, at his core he was a true teddy bear: gentle, protective, affectionate, and endlessly kind. Conversations came easily with him, laughter followed naturally, and people felt seen and accepted in his presence. He didn’t just pass through lives; he left lasting marks on hearts.

Chris was the kind of person who showed up, without being asked and without needing recognition. He loved deeply, cared fiercely, and gave freely of himself. His relationships were genuine, his loyalty unwavering, and his heart bigger than most. Whether you knew him for a lifetime or only a brief moment, you felt like you mattered.

He is survived by his soulmate, love of his life, his wife, Anna Slaght; his children: Joshua (Merry), Katielyn (Trevor), Megan (Brayden), and Russell; his granddaughter, Hazel; his parents, Kirk and Deanna Slaght; his brother, Kevin (Jessi) Townsend; his grandmother, Phyllis "Geegee" Slaght; his mother-in-law, Karen Boysel; sisters-in-law: Sally Marcum, Angela (Ken) Brannon, Karen Boysel, and Kelly (Nick) Schilling; brother-in-law, Kenny Boysel; and many, many more family and countless friends who became family through the years.

Though his time here feels far too short, the love, protection, and warmth he gave, especially to his children, will live on.

A Celebration of Life for Chris will be held at a later date. Please check back for more details.
