Chris A. Heeter, Sr., born on August 25, 1960, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 17, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. Known for his playfulness and strong will, he was equally recognized for his deep caring nature and generous spirit. His life was marked not only by his determined character but also by a profound commitment to family, service, and the outdoors.
Chris proudly served honorably in the United States Navy, embodying dedication and honor to his country. Beyond his service, he found joy in hunting, fishing, camping, and cooking—passions that reflected his love of the great outdoors. Racing and spending meaningful time with his family also occupied a special place in his heart. Above all, he cherished his family, which he regarded as his proudest accomplishment.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sherry Heeter, his parents, Carmen and Eugene Heeter, and his siblings, Jeri Bryant, Polly (John) Hastings, and Larry Atkins.
He leaves behind his devoted sons, Pastor Chris (Jennifer) Heeter, Jr. and Ben Harris; his daughter, Sarah Harris; and his fiancé, Sandy Harris. He was a proud grandfather to Devin, Chris Alan III, Mason, Taylor, Caleb, and Sabrina. Chris is also survived by his sister, Lynn (Clyde) Mullins, along with many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever hold his memory close.
Family, friends, and all who knew Chris are invited to honor his life and legacy with a visitation on Sunday, April 26, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at New Point Church, located at 626 W National Rd, Vandalia, Ohio. This will be followed by a funeral service at the same location at 3:00 PM. The final tribute will be held with a graveside service at Bethel West Cemetery, 9580 OH-202, Bethel Township, Ohio, on Monday, April 27, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM.
Chris A. Heeter, Sr.’s life will be remembered with deep reverence, profound respect, and heartfelt love. Cherished always in the memories whose lives' he touched. His legacy endures in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate to know him. We take comfort in knowing that Chris is running in Heaven, and we will see him again.
