Cheryl "Lee" Ann Koopman, known as "Lee" beloved resident of Northridge, peacefully passed away on March 29, 2026, just two days shy of her 81st birthday. Born in Gloversville, New York, on March 31, 1945, to George and Marie Culver, Cheryl touched the lives of many throughout her meaningful journey.
Dedicated to education and service, Lee generously shared her time and talent with the Riverbend Arts Center, where she taught and worked compassionately with underprivileged children. She also contributed to the Ohio Reads program, exemplifying her unwavering commitment to helping others. Cheryl's interests were varied and enriching, including her many years as a cherished member of the Gem and Mineral Club. Lee will also be fondly remembered for her love of all things Halloween.
She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Alfred Koopman and son, Benjamin Koopman, and is lovingly remembered by her children Dawn (Steve) Payton, Alex Rodriguez, and Justin "Mort" (Erica) Koopman. Cheryl was also a proud sister to Janet Culver and a cherished grandmother to Josh, Jessie, Justin, Benjamin, Nicholas, Alex, Piper, Lydia, Kelsey, and Mariah; as well as a great-grandmother to Tim, Lillie, Cora, and Raylan.
A gathering to honor Lee's life will be held on April 2, 2026, at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - North Chapel, located at 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton from 4:30pm-6:30pm. Family, friends, and all who knew Lee are invited to celebrate her remarkable spirit.
