Charlotte Yvonne Loudermilk, born January 27, 1946, in Oneida, Clay County, Kentucky, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the age of 79, peacefully in her own home in Riverside, Ohio. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and faithful servant of her church, Charlotte lived a life marked by enduring love, steadfast care, creativity, and unwavering faith.
The daughter of Walker Brandenburg and Bertha Blanch (Combs) Brandenburg, Charlotte’s early life drew from both small-town Ohio and her cherished Appalachian roots. Summers spent with her grandparents, Clay and Nell Ross Combs, in Pebworth, Owsley County, Kentucky, nurtured in her a love of story, tradition, music, and family—values that shaped her throughout her life.
Charlotte married the love of her life, Rev. William R. Loudermilk, and together they shared more than sixty years of life, love, and ministry. Rooted in her faith in Christ, she lived a life of service and devotion, walking beside her husband as a true companion and friend—offering strength, encouragement, wisdom, and steadfast love through every chapter of their journey.
She faithfully served her church in many roles, including Church Secretary/Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and leader of ladies’ ministry and programs. Charlotte poured her creativity into the life of the congregation at Way of the Cross Church—preparing for church plays and Vacation Bible Schools, designing costumes, building sets, decorating, organizing, and ensuring that everything was done with excellence, beauty, and care. Through her hands and her heart, she helped build a church home where people felt welcomed, remembered, and loved.
Charlotte was a maker, a preserver, a faithful steward, and a deeply shepherding soul at heart. She brought order to chaos, crafted beauty from simplicity, tended traditions, cared deeply for others, and watched over her family with thoughtful devotion. She created memories, protected peace, and made her home and her church places of belonging.
Charlotte’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her husband of more than 61 years, Rev. William R. Loudermilk; and her children by blood and by bond: Rev. William B. Loudermilk, Rev. Rebekah S. Loudermilk, Rachel Loudermilk Brown and her husband Eric T. Brown, Deborah L. Evans, and Jana L. Combs Ricker.
Her legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: AJ. Ricker, Madeline D. (Mark Christopher) Severance, Samuel R. Brown, Eric William Richard Brown, Ross Barrett Brown; and her great-grandchildren, Benjamin and John.
She is also survived by her sister, Patty Simpson; her sister-in-law, Ann Spencer Brandenburg; and her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Alene Loudermilk; along with her nieces and nephews, Maxine Collins, Kelly Loudermilk Winkler, Jeremiah Brandenburg, Matthew Brandenburg, and many other great nieces and nephews, lifelong friends, and a loving church family who will forever be grateful for her influence and example.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved in-laws, Rev. William and Alma Loudermilk, Sr.; her brother, Rev. Michael L. Brandenburg; her nephew, Robert Michael Loudermilk; grandson Jonathan David Brown and many other dear friends and family.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Way of the Cross Church, 612 Beatrice Dr., Riverside, Ohio.
A Memorial Service will follow on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a brief visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Charlotte’s beloved brother-in-law, Robert Loudermilk, along with other family members, will officiate.
Like a loving shepherdess, Charlotte watched over her flock with devoted care—and like a porch light left on through the night, her love will continue to help guide her family and friends home.
