Charlotte Virginia Babbitt, born September 21, 1928, passed away on October 27, 2026.
Charlotte will be remembered as a woman of deep love, steady strength, and a joyful spirit. She was a very hard worker throughout her life and continued working until she was 83, a reflection of her determination and remarkable work ethic. She enjoyed working in her yard and gardening when she was able to, and in her younger years she also enjoyed golfing. She was part of the Rike's Kettering bowling league as well, and those who knew her will remember not only her active spirit, but also the warmth she brought wherever she went. Charlotte had a wonderful sense of humor and was often a little goofy, a quality that brought smiles to the people around her. She was compassionate and giving, and above all else, her family was the most important thing to her. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and the love she gave so freely will remain a lasting gift to all who were blessed to know her.
She is survived by her children, Carol Babbitt Temperly and Scott, James Babbitt, and Trish Babbitt and Tom. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Brandi Bond and Brad, Corri Hellmund and Chris, Christopher Babbitt, and Natalie Gear and Brooks. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Kiera and Preston, Hailynn, Elisia, Brad III, Isaac, and Jeremiah, and through her great-great-grandchildren, Lucy and Ja'Rico Jr., with one more on the way! She is also survived by her sister, Ida Knopp as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Charlotte’s family was the center of her life, and the generations who follow her carry forward the love, laughter, and caring heart she shared with them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Babbitt Jr.; her son, Edwin Babbitt III; and her parents, Floyd Winterbotham and Charlotte Winterbotham.
Charlotte’s life was marked by devotion, resilience, kindness, and humor. She leaves behind cherished memories in the hearts of her family and all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Charlotte's memory may be made to the Ohio Hospice of Dayton.
