Charles H. Stewart "Bud," passed away on September 10, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio, at the age of 78. Born on December 11, 1946, in Harlan, Kentucky, Bud was a man whose life was characterized by unwavering dedication to his family and a deep love for the great outdoors.
Throughout his life, Bud was known as the greatest dad to ever walk this Earth. His children—Della Stewart, Charles Stewart Jr., Robert Stewart, Candice Stewart, Aleeah Stewart, Henry Stewart, and Arthur Wolf—will forever cherish the memories of a father who was always there to lean on and talk to. His love extended beyond his children, encompassing his beloved wife of 51 years, Margie (Neely) Stewart, whom he prioritized above all else. Their bond showcased not just the depth of his love, but also a model of partnership that many admired.
Bud’s devotion to family was paralleled only by his work ethic. He was renowned as one of the hardest workers, tirelessly providing for those he loved. His gentle spirit and affection extended to animals, reflecting a profound empathy shared by those who had the privilege to know him. His hobbies included fishing and hunting, activities that brought him joy and allowed him to connect with nature.
He found great pride in being a grandfather to Erica Smith, Connor Neely, Kelsey Neely, Katelynn Tolle, Michael Matcalf, Presley Stewart, Isaiah Stewart, Reese Stewart, Sophia Stewart, and Celena Hodson, as well as in being a great-grandfather to Riley Neely, Cason Hodson, Treazure Kearney, and Kay Kearney. The legacy of love and support he instilled in them will resonate for generations.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Della (Little) Stewart, and his siblings, June Plemons, Shirley Owens, Jean Blackburn, Helen Chadwell, and James Stewart. He also mourned the loss of his son, Johnny Ray Neely, and his grandson, Charles Edward Chatterton.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025 at 12:00PM at Newcomer Funeral Home, Kettering. Family and friends may visit from 11:00AM until the time of service. Bud will be laid to rest at Bear Creek-Hillgrove Cemetery.
