Charles J. Smith

Charles J. "Chuck" Smith, age 87 of Troy, passed away January 2, 2018. He was born May 4, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio to the late James and Emma Smith. In addition to his parents, Chuck was preceded in death by his sister, Alice Hilt.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bettyanne Smith; sons: Gary Smith, Rick Smith, Chris (Crystal) Smith and Patrick (Angela) Smith; 9 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.

Chuck was a veteran of the U.S. Army, Korean War; discovered SunWatch Indian Village; retired from Sears after 46 years of service; and was very active in Boy Scouts of America. Chuck loved Christmas and had a great passion for decorating his home during that time. He loved visiting Disney World, enjoyed model trains and was an avid woodworker. More than anything, Chuck loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 12-1 pm on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at Newcomer North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, where the funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
