On June 25, 2024, Charles K Phipps left his earthly presence, and traveled to heaven to reunite with those passed before him.
He and his identical twin brother known as “Kay and Jay the Phipps twins” were born February 19, 1936. They graduated from Ester Dennis (Northridge Polar Bear) 1954.
He married Shirley Anderson Phipps on April 30, 1955 and celebrated 69 years in April of this year.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, Ira Phipps and Grace Driver Phipps. Their son Charles R Phipps known as Chuckwheet.
Survived by his wife Shirley Phipps, and children Jodie Porumb Wilson (grandkids TJ and Mike Porumb), Lisa Phipps-Barclay (grandkids Trenton Phipps and Brittin Barclay), Chris Phipps (grandkids Nick, Harley and Marissa Phipps) and his brother, Warren Jay Phipps (wife Barbara) and 10 great-grandchildren who he adored.
He and his twin brother on January 17, 1954, became Eagle Scouts. They were sponsored by Beardshear EBU Church. He spent many years being a mention to new scouts and volunteered his time at Cricket Holler Boy Scout Camp.
He spent 8 years in the Navy Reserves in the See Bee’s division. He built his own successful Formica business known as K’s Formica Shop and Remodelers, INC. Along with his business he was a Dayton Firefighter from 1958-1989. He retired from station 21’s which was located on Frederick Pike.
His passion was enjoying, and sharing fun and food at Brookville Lake, Platt Campground located in Indiana. This is where he spent his weekends fishing, boating with the family, and cooking the best fish ever.
In ending, he will never be forgotten as some of his work still stands in some of the great Dayton and Montgomery County area gas stations. He also added to his legacy by teaching his craft to many.
You are and will always be in our hearts and missed so terribly.
A celebration of Life will be held from 3pm - 9pm on Friday, July 26, 2024 at Dayton Firefighters Local 136 Activity Center, 3616 Needmore Rd. Dayton, OH 45424.
