Charles Lee Fields, born January 26, 1944, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on April 18, 2026, in Dayton, Ohio. A dedicated and steadfast individual, Charles devoted 52 years of his professional life to working as a crane operator at DP&L, retiring with a legacy of hard work and commitment.

Charles was a graduate of Roosevelt High School, Class of 1962, where he laid the foundation for a life marked by devotion to family, work, and simple pleasures. Known for his fastidious nature, he was particularly meticulous about keeping his cars clean and polished, a reflection of his disciplined and orderly character.

His personal interests painted a picture of a man who cherished the quieter, yet meaningful, moments in life. Charles also loved to play the Lottery and found comfort in watching his favorite shows. A warm-hearted man, he would often feed the alley cats near his home and found joy in riding around with his beloved granddaughter, Sade'. His simple daily routine included eating a banana every day, and he had a fondness for Snickers candy bars and Lays potato chips, small pleasures that he savored.

Charles’ family meant the world to him. He is survived by his children, Monica Mitchell, DeWayne (Kimberly) Johnson, and Iesha Hankins; his grandchildren, Terria Ford, Terry Martin, Terrel Martin, Dechelle Johnson, and Sade' Miller; as well as seven great-grandchildren who bring light and continuity to his enduring family legacy. He shared a special companionship with his friend Carol Earley. Charles also leaves behind siblings Elsie Williams, Freddie Fields, and Linda Fields-Trabue, along with a host of nieces, nephews, numerous extended family members, and friends who will remember him with great affection.
