Tipp City, OH

Charles Scott “Chuck” Fenstermaker, 93, of New Carlisle, OH, passed away May 15, 2025, in Tipp City, Ohio.

He was born February 6, 1932, in Warren, OH, the son of the late Harry Clifford Fenstermaker and Eleanor Josephine (Kreitler) Fenstermaker.

Chuck grew up in Lordstown, OH, and graduated from Lordstown High School, Class of 1950. In August, 1954, he graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In addition to being a commissioned Second Lieutenant, USAF Reserve, serving three years as a Supply Officer, Chuck was employed for the majority of his career, and retired from, NCR in Dayton, OH.

He is survived by daughter, Dr. Sarah Easley of Milford, OH; daughter, Susan Gutman, and husband Bill, of Mt. Juliet, TN; son, USAF Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Scott Fenstermaker, and wife Michelle, of Navarre, FL; and son, Steven Fenstermaker of Huber Heights, OH; grandchildren Nathan Easley, Alex Easley, Jennifer Easley, Amanda and husband Dwayne Mabe, Brenda Gutman, John and wife Jess Gutman, Nicholle Fenstermaker, and Kendra Fenstermaker; great-grandsons Raylan, Leo, and Henry; sister, Florence Ada Siglin of Braceville, OH; and his best friend of nearly 30 years, Anne Dunbar of Huber Heights, OH.

In addition to his beloved mother and father, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Shirley Jean (Ridenour) Fenstermaker, and his sister, Mary Rhoda Butler.

He was a member of many clubs and organizations, and held multiple offices, including President of German Club Edelweiss and Dayton Ballroom Dance Club. He implemented the DBDC “Monday Night Tie Guy Club”, which is still going strong today. He also frequented activities at Liederkranz-Turner, Eintracht, American Czechoslovakian Club, Polish Club, Greater Dayton Real Estate Investors Association (attaining an Ohio Professional Housing Provider designation), Clark County Republicans, and was a lifelong member of the Eden Grange in Lordstown, Ohio, taking the 7th degree in 1951. He was seen for many years volunteering in the German booth, at the annual A World A’fair International Festival.

Chuck’s family roots run deep, he took great interest in maintaining connections with immediate and extended family and he was proud of his loved ones. Travel was something Chuck enjoyed, partaking in adventuresome activities such as zip-lining, snow-skiing, hiking, and canoeing. He nurtured a lifelong love of trains, and fulfilled a dream of riding on a steam engine in 2023. In addition to having visited much of the United States (several of his favorites being Alaska, Colorado and Florida), Chuck made a number of trips to Germany, and several other European countries. As dedicated patrons of the arts, he and Anne regularly attended the Dayton Live Broadway Series at the Schuster Center in Dayton and as recently as April, 2025, they attended the Edelweiss 101st Anniversary Dance.

Chuck utilized his business degree throughout his life, maintaining active interest in politics, real estate, and the stock market. Notably, he encouraged others to take interest in their financial future by urging friends and family to never forget the “Rule of 72” or Einstein’s advice, “Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it; he who doesn’t, pays it.”
