Charles “Chuck” D. Cannon, Jr., age 57, of Kettering, OH, passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2024. He was born on January 1, 1967, to Charles, Sr., and Connie (Burkes) Cannon. As a young boy, he was always tinkering with projects and fixing things. He loved to work with his hands and this passion carried him throughout life. He graduated from Greene Joint Vocational School and went on to a Big Machine training program that led to his lifelong career as a Mechanical Technician in many different fields. He eventually started his own business, Cannon’s Repair, which he operated for the last 15 years. He always had a personal project to work on in the driveway. If it was a machine, Chuck could fix it.
Through a mutual friend, Chuck met the love of his life, June, in August of 1992 and they welcomed their first baby the following year. They were married three years later, moved into their first home on December 22, and welcomed their second baby the next day! They celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Chuck was an avid dog lover and took his buddy Dino with him anytime he could. He also loved to ride his motorcycle for long trips through the winding and scenic backroads, usually with his wife and any friends that could join him. He combined both of these loves and built a special trailer for his Harley so Dino could go riding with him. Dino loved it so much that he would bark at his dad until Chuck got the bike out and hooked up the trailer so Dino could get in and would continue to bark until the bike was going fast enough for him. It was quite the sight to see.
As a member of the Miami Valley Chapter BCCA, Chuck enjoyed collecting beer cans and breweriana, and managed to acquire an impressive collection over the years. He also loved to go treasure hunting with his metal detector and would bring his found items home to share with his family and friends. He was partial to craft beer and enjoyed going to different breweries to try new menus, but his favorite spots were Devil Wind Brewing and D20, where he had many friends that he and Dino loved to visit. Chuck also enjoyed playing group trivia, camping, listening to music, bonfires, hanging out with his friends and spending time with his wife.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles, Sr.; grandparents Wanda and Ziba Burkes, Charlie Cannon and Loraine Gibson; and sister-in-law Cristy.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife, June (Lawson), children Rose and Dylan, adopted daughter Mariah and grandson Silas; his beloved mother, Connie, and granny, Doris; his sisters Kim (Steve) Cahill and Sherry, brother Terry (Leah); his father-in-law Clarence (Sue) Lawson, brothers-in-law Joey, Steve (Laura), Clarence, Jr. (Ashley), and Pride (Rebecca); sisters-in-law Tina (Calvin) Prewitt and Charlysa (Paul) Huskey; many extended family members, close friends, and fur babies, Dino, Indy and Ruby.
