Charles Alan Stewart, affectionately known as Chuck, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2026 in Dayton, Ohio. Born on August 26, 1962 at Wright Patterson AFB, Chuck was a loving father, grandfather, husband, friend, and one of the most loyal people you could ever meet.
A graduate of Belmont High School, Class of 1980, he was a proud Daytonian. Go Flyers! Chuck was proud of his service in the United States Marine Corps, and that pride and his commitment to country was a defining feature of his character that remained throughout his life.
Chuck's greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his wife, Sherrie; his children, Glenn (Krystine) Stewart and Amanda (Alex) Stewart; his grandchildren, Charlie Stewart, Jack Stewart, and Amelia Adair; and the mother of his children and close friend, Debbie Stewart.
Nothing made Chuck happier than spending time with Glenn and Amanda or being "Pop Pop” to his grandkids, who brought endless pride, laughter, and joy to his life. If you knew Chuck, you knew two things: he loved his family and he loved football. His passion for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Dallas Cowboys was legendary, and game days were serious business. Win or lose, he never missed an opportunity to cheer on his teams.
He also enjoyed cards, music, concerts, and spending time with friends and family. Chuck will be remembered for his sense of humor, his loyalty, his generous heart, and the way he showed up for the people he loved. His family was always at the center of his world, and the memories he created with them will be cherished forever.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3940 Kettering Blvd. A service with military honors will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor David Tackett to officiate.
