Charlene Barker, age 82, of Centerville, peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at Hospice of Dayton. She was born January 14, 1943, in Xenia, Ohio, to the late Phillip and Mildred McKay.
Charlene graduated from Xenia High School, and adopted her daughters, Roxanne and Roseann. She enjoyed a fulfilling career before her retirement from the Defense Electronics Supply Center (DESC). Throughout her life, she found great joy in her passions. She was a devoted fan of The Ohio State University Buckeyes and the UD Flyers, often cheering them on with enthusiasm. Her love for animals was another significant aspect of her life; she embraced the companionship and unconditional love that pets offer, treating them as cherished members of her family.
Charlene is survived by her daughter, Roxanne (Rex) McPherson; grandchildren, Austin (Alacia), Brooke (Mark), Tyler, Jenifer, Chase (Mel), and Kiersten (Robert); great-grandchildren, Callie, Xander, Paxton, Penelope, Kingston, Ryder, Josie, and Aria; sisters, Joanna (Freddy) and Joyce (Bob); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Charlene was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Fred; her daughter, Roseann; and her cherished dogs, Molly, Princess, and Midget.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Hawker Church (1617 N. Longview Street, Beavercreek, OH 45432). A memorial service will begin at 11:00 am.
