Chantel S. (Vaughn) Harding, 34, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable presence. Known affectionately as Chani, she brought warmth, color, and joy wherever she went. Her laugh—bright, bold, and contagious—was one of the many gifts she shared with the world.
Chani was a devoted mother to her two sons, Daquan and Messiah, who were the center of her heart. She also shared a meaningful bond with Messiah’s father, Amonte. Her love for her family was constant and deep, reflected in the way she showed up for those she cared about.
She expressed herself through the things she loved: tattoos that told her story, the soothing pull of R&B music, the color purple that matched her vibrant spirit, and the Hostas she tended with care. These small joys painted a picture of a woman who embraced life with authenticity and heart.
Chani is survived by her parents, Joanna and Alex Vaughn; her sister, Alexis Vaughn; her brother, A.J. Vaughn; and her niece, Nariyah. She leaves behind her grandmothers, Janet (Otis) Vaughn and Debbie (William) Langston, who cherished her deeply.
She is also survived by her aunts, Nicki (Chris) Williams, Christina (Butch) Dixon and Tammy Vaughn; her uncles, Carldale Vaughn, Keith Rountree, lovingly known as Uncle 4-5 and William (Shelly) Langston Jr; and a host of cousins who will forever hold her memory close.
Chani was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Walter “Otis” Vaughn and William Langston, as well as her aunt, Charmin Vaughn.
Her absence leaves a space that cannot be filled, but her spirit—her laughter, her love, her light—will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
