Listen to Obituary

Cecil Patricia “Pat” Heidenescher passed away peacefully at home on October 9, 2026. Pat was born on September 12, 1938, to Leon Thompson and Naomi Idle Thompson of La Pryor, Texas. Although Pat lived most of her adult life in Ohio, she always held a special place in her heart for Texas. When she was younger, she even had a Southern drawl to match.

Pat was a devoted Christian, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived every day guided by her love for Jesus Christ and her family. Every act of giving, often done sacrificially, reflected the faith she practiced daily.

Pat loved her husband, George, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with her whole heart. She showed her love by remembering birthdays, celebrating milestones, and cheering their every success. Pat will be remembered for her generosity toward people and causes that helped those going through difficult times. She had a generous heart and a quiet strength. She found her greatest joy in life surrounded by her loved ones.

To her grandchildren, she was a safe harbor, an endless source of wisdom, and always a listening ear. Her home was filled with stories, laughter, and love. She always had the biggest smile for everyone, and no one was ever a stranger to her. She will be deeply missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Pat is survived by her loving husband, George Heidenescher of Dayton, OH; her daughters, Vicki Holder (Jim) of Hickory, NC, and Lisa Fontecchio of Dayton, OH; and her son, James Koon (Angie) of Dayton, OH. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Carrie Chapman (Wayne) of Suffolk, VA; Chelsea Long of Mansfield, OH; Caitlin Long (Tirso) of Dayton, OH; Joel Holder (Kim) of Drayton, SC; Sarah Rhyne (Jacob) of Wahiawa, HI; Amy Holder of Albuquerque, NM; Timothy Fontecchio and Christopher Fontecchio of Dayton, OH; Patricia Amber Fontecchio of Dayton, OH; and Matthew Koon (Kinsey Wenning) of Kettering, OH. Pat is also survived by her stepdaughters, Carol Locker (Dave) of Pulaski, TN, and Pam Bochenek (Chris) of Conover, OH; Angie Fields (John) of Beavercreek, OH, whom she loved like a granddaughter; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pat was preceded in death by her oldest son, Richard Long; her youngest daughter, Gina Koon; and her grandson, Josh Pettigrew.
