Carrie P. Marshall, age 69 of Franklin, passed away June 16, 2020. She was born March 20, 1951 in Tabaco, Albay, Philippines to the late Francisco and Rosa Perez. In addition to her parents, Carries was preceded in death by her 2 sisters and 1 brother.
She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Paul Marshall; children, Sarah (Tara) Marshall and Sheila (Adrian) Hull; grandchildren, Charlie and Haley Hull; sister, Siony Perez of Ohio; 4 sisters of the Philippines, 2 brothers of the Philippines and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
A small town in the shadow of Mayon volcano on the island of Luzon in the Philippines. Her oldest memory was when her dad bought her a pair of plastic red shoes (her first shoes) to go to church and she got blisters. She was once sick and placed on an Ox cart and taken to see the doctor. After high school, she left home and went with her uncle house in Olongapo city near Subic Bay Naval Base. Her cousins and her sister, Teresa had a barbecue stand she worked with them selling grilled chicken, 3 bite size pieces on a skewer, where the service men called it Monkey Meat or a Dog on a Log. One young Marine stopped to talk to her every day and eventually won over her heart. When he got out of the Marine Corp he came back and she married Paul and became Caridad Perez Marshall on May 6, 1973.
On December 2, 1982 she became an American citizen and changed her name to Carrie. Carrie gave birth to their first child, a daughter, Sarah on July 1, 1980. Three years later, Carrie and Paul welcomed their second daughter, Sheila on May 7, 1983. She was hired and worked at Harrison Thermal Systems in Moraine. After 12 years of service, they closed and she retired.
She was always making friends. People automatically liked her everywhere we went. Carrie was a member of Dayton Baptist Temple, then Abundant Life and finally Bethel Baptist Church. She dearly loved her faith, her husband, daughters and grandchildren. Some of her proudest moments were the birth of Sarah and Sheila, her grandchildren, Charlie and Haley and when her daughter, Sarah made Captain of the Dayton Fire Department.
She and Paul loved to watch fireworks and traveling to the beach and the Philippines. Carrie enjoyed walking 3 miles 5-7 days a week. They liked camping at the Ohio campgrounds and at the beach in Florida.
Her dementia got the best of her in the last 2 years she was with us but she never gave up. She will forever be missed and loved by all.
