Carolyn Rose (Henne) Plummer, a beloved daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, journeyed to her eternal rest on January 25, 2026, in Enon, Ohio. Born on December 3, 1941, in Dayton, Ohio, Carolyn’s life was a tapestry woven with the vibrant threads of love, devotion to family, and cherished friendships. She graduated from Kiser High School, Class of 1961, a time when she first caught the eye of her one true love, David. Their story began in adolescence when David, captivated by Carolyn's long, beautiful hair, asked her brother, Skeet, who she was. Together, they embarked on a journey of romance that would span over half a century, culminating in a marriage that lasted 53 blissful years until his passing in 2016.
Carolyn dedicated many years of her life to her career at Western and Southern Life Insurance Company, where her unwavering commitment and kindness left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to work alongside her. She was a woman of grace, ever reassuring those around her with her gentle catchphrase, "Everything is fine – I’m fine," a reflection of her resilient spirit and quiet composure.
A devoted member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church, Carolyn found deep comfort in her faith and community. Family was the cornerstone of her life; her heart swelled with pride as she attended her great-grandchildren's events, cheering them on from the sidelines, and finding joy in every moment spent with her children – Jeff Plummer, Darren Plummer, Rebecca Ryan (John), and Andy Plummer. Her laughter and love resonated through generations, as she delighted in the company of her grandchildren, Kim Sheehan (Kevin), John David Ryan, Ben Schultz, and J.C. Plummer, and her great-grandchildren, Ethan Sheehan, Lilah Sheehan, and Isabella Schultz.
Beyond family ties, Carolyn had an adventurous spirit that basked in the thrill of the casino, where her lucky phrase, “ka-ching, ka-ching, ka-ching,” echoed like a joyful refrain among her loved ones. She was a wonderful cook, a stalwart bowler, having once competed proudly in a state championship, and a cherished player of board games and cards, often laughing along with her siblings. Carolyn and her sisters could often be heard cackling like hens. Among her delightful quirks, she would refer to her son-in-law and brother-in-law endearingly as "what's his face," each utterance accompanied by a warm smile.
The sting of sorrow is felt deeply with the loss of Carolyn’s loving husband, David Plummer; their dearly departed son, Darren Plummer; her great-grandson, James Michael Sheehan; her parents, Edgar and Julia Henne; and her brothers, Fred Henne and Ed "Skeet" Henne. Yet, she leaves behind a legacy steeped in love and laughter, one nurtured by her sisters, Mary Opal Harvey and Theresa Ford (Gary), many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were graced by her gentle spirit.
Carolyn’s life will be celebrated at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, with visitation beginning at 11:30 AM and funeral service following at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026.
