Carolyn D. Hale, of Riverside, Ohio, passed away on September 9, 2026. She was born on July 17, 1952, in Hillsboro, Ohio, and lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and a deep love for her family.
A graduate of Colonel White High School, Class of 1970, Carolyn carried herself with a spirit that those who knew her will long remember. She was strong and loving, sometimes strict, and treasured the peace and quiet. At the same time, her warmth showed itself in the ways she cared for the people closest to her. She loved gardening, traveling, and working on the family genealogy, preserving stories and connections that mattered to her. She also enjoyed riding the motorcycle with her husband, sharing both adventure and companionship along the way.
Family was at the center of Carolyn’s life. She is survived by her husband, Virgle, and by her sons, Nathan Hale and his wife Leah, Andrew Hale and his wife Stacey, and Nevin Hale. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Teah Klegin and her husband Nick, Christopher Hale, Michael Hale, Aliesha Ellis, and Kateland Ellis, as well as her great-grandchildren, Cameron, Casey, and Anzel. Those who loved Carolyn knew the special joy she found in her grandchildren, who held a cherished place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Perkins, and by her parents, Nancy Perkins and William Perkins.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Dayton, 4104 Needmore Rd, Dayton, Ohio 45424, where the funeral service will begin at 12:30 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Dayton National Cemetery, 4400 W Third St, Dayton, Ohio 45428.
Carolyn will be remembered for her steady presence, her love of home and family, and the quiet but enduring ways she shaped the lives around her. Her memory will continue to live on in the family she loved so well.
