Carol S. Staten, age 76 of Riverside, OH, passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Soin Medical Center. She was born September 4, 1942 in Hazard, Kentucky to Grover Hurt and Christine Whitley.
Carol graduated from Sinclair College and retired as an Quality Control Technician for Leland/Smith Industries in 2008 after 10 years. Prior to Leland/Smith she worked for Smith Tool Company, Southeast Tool and Millat Industries. Carol taught High School at Lighthouse Christian School from 1978 to 1983. She loved to draw and paint portraits, sewing and genealogy. Carol loved to travel with her "Sweetie" Edwin in their RV, visiting Yellowstone National Parks, Missouri and Kentucky. She loved her grandkids and new great grandbaby and enjoyed spending time with them. Carol was deeply devoted to loving God and the endless pursuit of truth. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Lucretia (Jay) Gillis; a son, Marc (Beth) Clark; 7 grandchildren, Nathaniel Jordan (Elianne), Jonathan Wesley, Zach, Alexandria (Brad), Mackenzie, Connor and Madison; one great grandchild, Brady; her devoted partner, Edwin Lockwood; siblings, Jeanette, Barbara, James, David and Betty; and other numerous family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Margaret M. Clark; a grandson, Elisha James; her husbands James "Don" Clark and Robert "Bob" Staten; and siblings Robert Eddie, Marina Claudette "Susie", Johnny Ray, Thelma Faye and Clyde Jr.
A visitation will be held on July 23, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Beavercreek Chapel, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek, Ohio 45432. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at the funeral home at 7 pm, officiated by Pastor Jay Gillis. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion Park Cemetery, Beavercreek, OH.
