Listen to Obituary

Carol Sue McNabb, born October 25, 1941, passed away peacefully at home on July 15, 2026. Her life was a reflection of warmth, dedication, and love, enriching those fortunate enough to know her.

Carol was a proud graduate of Fairmont High School, an accomplishment she held dear throughout her life. Throughout high school she was a member of the Rhythmettes, along with theater productions Oklahoma and Guys and Dolls. She went on to serve as a legal secretary, bringing diligence and care to her work, and earning the respect of her colleagues. Her professional life was marked by steadfast commitment and a keen attention to detail.

Beyond her career, Carol’s interests and passions brought her great joy. She loved nothing more than getting lost in a good book or finding comfort and happiness through music. In her younger years, she delighted in dancing, a passion that was matched only by the fun and lightheartedness she brought to every gathering. Above all, she valued the time spent with her family, which was truly the center of her world.

Those who knew Carol will remember her quick wit and the ease with which she laughed. Her sense of humor illuminated every occasion, creating cherished memories for her loved ones. Her presence brought levity and comfort, and she always found a way to make those around her feel special.

Carol is survived by her beloved daughter, Melinda Christian, and her cherished grandsons, George, Eric, and Matt Christian, granddaughter Sophie Hartz, and great grandchildren Grant, Jack, and Callie. Their lives are a testament to her love and devotion—a living legacy that continues to inspire kindness and joy.

She is preceded in death by her son, Robert Allen West; her sister, Linda Jaynes; and her life partner Bill Melvin.

Carol Sue McNabb’s gift for laughter, her love for family, and her unwavering spirit will be deeply missed. As those who loved her mourn her passing, they also celebrate a life well lived and beautifully shared. Her memory will continue to enliven the hearts of all who knew her.
