Carol Hartman, a beloved matriarch and cherished loved one to many, passed away on March 1, 2026, on her 83rd birthday in Troy, Ohio. Her birthday on this Earth will now and forever be her birthday in Heaven. Born in La Follette, Tennessee, on March 1, 1943, Carol was a person known for her giving spirit, kind heart, and unwavering passion for her family.

Throughout her life, Carol exemplified a devotion to her family. She took on the role of caregiver for many, ensuring they received the love and support needed. This selflessness was a defining feature of Carol's character; she gave freely, always prioritizing the needs of others above her own. She gave everything she had to the ones she loved, which was her greatest gift.

A dedicated mother, Carol is survived by her loving children, Debra (Tim) Berger and Rebecca Funk, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Christina Mooney, Melissa Briggs, Amy Sommers, and Ashley Smith. She was also a proud great-grandmother to Conner, Allison, Eli, Libby, Abigail, Kate, Jonathan, and Jake. In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by her brother, Larry Cusick, who continues to carry the legacy of her kindness forward, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family members, all whom she loved dearly.

Carol's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her nurturing spirit. An avid reader, she particularly enjoyed romance novels that echoed her own deep passion for life and love. She loved to share her southern cooking with anyone and everyone. A devoted member of her faith community, she attended the Agape Family Worship Center.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Bessie Cusick, her son-in-law, Lyle Funk, and her siblings, Eva Horne, Robert Cusick, Louise Asbury, and Clyde Cusick.

The memory of Carol Hartman will forever live on in the lives she touched, as her legacy of love, compassion, and devoted care of family remains a guiding light for everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She will now rest in peace, in no more pain, with no more fear, and surrounded by those who went before her.
