Listen to Obituary

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt reflection that we announce the passing of Carla Briscoe, a remarkable woman whose life was a vivid tapestry of love, strength, and unwavering dedication. Born on October 15, 1969, in Dayton, Ohio, Carla was a native of the city that cradled her from birth to her final breath on April 21, 2026.

Carla was much more than her profession, though for twenty years she took great pride in her work as a certified butcher, a craft she approached with a straightforward, raw, and uncut passion—qualities as inherent to her personality as her loving and giving spirit. She was a woman who spoke plainly but deeply, whose honesty was matched by her immense capacity for generosity.

Beyond her career, Carla’s heart found joy in simpler, yet profound pleasures that brought light not only to her life but to all who shared in them. She was an avid player of BINGO, holding the distinction of VIP at Valley Street BINGO, a testament to her zest for community and camaraderie. Her love of the outdoors saw her embracing the beauty of nature through camping trips, moments of peace and adventure that recharged her soul. The fervor she held as a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Cincinnati Reds was infectious, a source of spirited conversations and shared excitement.

However, above all, Carla’s greatest joy was her family. She cherished every moment spent with her children—Kenneth Kniess (Mikki), Shamecka Williams (Labrina), Janet Kniess (Larry), and Kristin Pounds—and embraced her bonus children Andree, Dada, Bryant "Fish," and Bryan "Big B" as integral parts of her beloved clan. Carla's heart swelled with pride and affection for her grandchildren: Kenny III, Bryant Jr., Bryan Jr., Kamren, Alexis, Zelea, Larry IV, Ayonna, and Kash, as well as her beloved great-grandson, Grayson. Family was the core of her existence, and her loving presence is profoundly missed.  Carla is also survived by her father, Robert Briscoe; her children's fathers: Kenneth Kniess and Andre Pounds and her dear friend, Rayme.

Carla was also a sibling, equally cherished by her brothers and sisters—Carl, Angel, Big Willy, Tonya, David, and Rob—who along with many nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends, carry forward her legacy of love.

Her journey on earth is marked by both joy and sorrow. She is preceded in death by her mother, Edith Taylor; brothers Russell Jr., Duane, and Chuck; two grandsons; and her daughter's father, Kenny Williams Ezell, who remain forever in the hearts of those who loved them.
