Carl Hunley passed away on July 26, 2026, at the age of 86.
He was born on June 26, 1940, in Jacksboro, Tennessee, to the late Fred and Pearl Hunley.
Carl proudly served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1966. He graduated from barber school in 1969 and cut hair part-time while working for Arkansas Best Freight. After retiring from ABF in 1998 following 25 years of service, he opened Carl's Barbershop in Huber Heights, where he cut hair until retiring in December 2024.
Carl enjoyed golfing at Sugar Isle, loved coaching youth baseball and football cubs in New Carlisle, Ohio, and he and was a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 63 years; his sons, Steve (Janis) and Eric; his grandson, Dakota; his great-grandson, Case Hunley; his brother, Clarence (Perri); and his sister, Margaret (Mike).
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Laurels of Huber Heights for the compassionate care they provided during Carl's final weeks.
Private burial services will be held at the convenience of the family at Dayton National Cemetery.
"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the
Lord."
