Bruce A. McPeek, age 91 of Dayton, passed away October 3, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 1, 1929 in Marion, OH to the late William and Lillian (Meyers) McPeek. In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his son, Dean; brother, Donald; sister and brother-in-law, Dolores & Jack.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children, William, Michael (Luz), Brian, Teresa (Jim) and Stephanie (Doug); daughter-in-law, Sheila; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren and step-family.
Bruce grew up in Kettering and graduated from Fairmont High School.
He then, proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Following his honorble discharge, he worked for WPAFB in civil service programming computer systems. Later, he fulfilled his dream of owning his own roller skating park, the Price Hill Roller Rink.
Bruce always had a childlike heart with a joking personality. He loved to bring a smile to everyones face. He remained active his entire life. He was on numerous leagues: baseball, softball, golf, shuffleboard, roller figure skating, lawn bowling, and bowling. He either coached, umpired, or refereed for; volleyball, softball, basketball, roller hockey, speed skating, and basketball. He enjoyed playing games; horseshoes, lawn darts, billiards, cards, corn hole, badminton, tennis, and puzzles. Everything became a fun competition, which he always won!.
His passion though, was being outdoors. He loved camping, fishing, hiking, boating, traveling, cruising, and even yard work. He was still cutting grass at age 90. He would do anything to be outside.
A majority of his life was working in a church. He was given the title "Minister of Maintenance" at Far Hill Baptist Church. He also was the custodian at Centerville Community Church. Bruce began and organized the first McPeek Open Golf Tournament, held in 1990. Bruce loved the Lord, and spent his years serving God, helping his community, giving, and blessing others. His heart was enormous.
Family will receive friends from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on October 12, 2020 at Newcomer Funeral Home, Centerville Chapel 820 Miamisburg-Centerville Rd. Dayton, 45459, where a funeral service will begin at 1 PM. Interment with military honors will follow at Miami Valley Memorial Gardens, Centerville.
