Brian Shawn Essex

Brian Shawn Essex, born on June 27, 1966, in Alamogordo, New Mexico, passed away on September 4, 2025, in Xenia, Ohio, surrounded by his beloved family. He was a talented bricklayer and painter, whose dedication to his craft reflected his hard-working nature and commitment to perfection. Brian graduated from the Greene County Joint Vocational School, where he laid the foundations for a career that he approached with passion and precision.

Those who knew Brian would describe him as one of a kind, possessing an adventurous spirit and a caring soul. Behind his tough exterior, he held a big heart that drew people in. His patriotism was evident in everything he did. He enjoyed collecting a variety of items and lived life to the fullest, and found joy in building model airplanes.

Brian had a profound affection for his blue and gold Macaw, Louie, who brought much happiness into his life. He is survived by his dear mother, Bonnie Essex; brother, Barry Essex; his four-legged sister, Bella; several dear relatives, including aunt, Judi (Pat) Kil; and cousins, Danny Hanley, Lori Thomas, Corey Hanley, Taylor Thomas, Kevin Strempke, Krissy Haney, and Kyle Strempke; as well as many loving friends.

Brian was preceded in death by his father, Douglas Essex, and his cherished grandparents, Cecil & Mary Walker and Frank & Agnes Essex.

He leaves behind a legacy of love remembered by his family members and friends, who will carry his memory in their hearts forever. Brian will be fondly remembered for his unique spirit, adventurous nature, and the indelible mark he made on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
