Bonnie Jean VanDeMark of Springboro, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 15, 2026 at the age of 79. She was born on August 1, 1946 to Melvin and Mabel Nelson in Greenville, Michigan. After graduating from Greenville High School, Bonnie worked her way up from ad salesgirl at the Greenville Daily News in Michigan to being the publisher of the Mercer County Chronicle in Ohio and the Bolivar Bulletin-Times in Tennessee. After retiring in 2004, she worked at JCPenney in the drapery department. Once she retired from JCPenney, she opened a booth at Trader's World selling collectibles until 2022. She loved Jesus, her family, and her country, and she was not afraid to let people know it. In her free time, she enjoyed nature photography, reading her Bible, and shopping. She was also known for her quick wit, directness, solid work ethic, and her sense of humor. Bonnie will be lovingly remembered by her 2 children from her first marriage, son Jeff (Cheryl) Christensen of Troy, Ohio and daughter Jennifer Christensen of Franklin, Ohio. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Nick Christensen of Casstown, Ohio, Katie Christensen of Casstown, Ohio, and Emily Ausra of Franklin, Ohio and 1 great grandson Waylon Dever of Casstown, Ohio, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Richard and Ronald Nelson, 1 sister, Barbara Rowland, 1 niece and 1 nephew. A small graveside service and burial will occur at Little Denmark Cemetery in Gowen, Michigan in the spring.
